Introducing Eden Hall’s Gym Team
Hi, name’s Suzie and I’m the Gym and Leisure Manager at Eden Hall (far right). I joined the team in February 2014, and so far it has been a fantastic journey! If you have not visited the gym when you have been to eden hall for the day, you may not have met my team. I’d like to take this opportunity to share a bit about myself with you before introducing you to the rest of the Gym & Leisure team.
I came into the fitness industry about 5 years ago after an injury during professional dance training forced me to make a career change. I qualified as a personal trainer, gym instructor, and Exercise to Music (ETM) instructor, along with extra qualifications such as spinning, circuits, sports nutrition and gym based boxing. I then moved more into teaching classes and decided to become a certified Les Mills Body Combat instructor. I definitely got the teaching bug as I increased my qualifications to become a certified Les Mills Body Balance instructor and Zumba instructor. Following on from this, I undertook Kettlebell training, pre and post natal exercise, Level 3 Matwork Pilates and a Level 3 Certificate in teaching Yoga. I am also qualified to teach Aqua. I now hold a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Leisure Management, and also a Level 3 award in Swimming Pool Plant Operations. My background is working within various health spas in the area so coming to work for Eden Hall felt like the right thing to do, and it was absolutely the right decision! I love it and can’t wait to see the team develop from here onwards!
Let me introduce you to my fantastic and very energetic team…
My name is Katie (2nd from the right) and I’m an exercise to music instructor, gym instructor and dancer. I have been dancing since I was 3 years old and trained professionally from the age of 19 at the Centre of Performing Arts in London and Preston Dance College. I have performed in many shows and professional pantomimes. Whilst at Dance College I fell in love with fitness and qualified in my ETM and gym instructor qualifications. I have been teaching classes since 2005 and specialise in dance based classes which include salsa, disco, cheerleading, jive and dance based aerobics. I also love teaching spinning, bums legs and tums and hula hooping. I have been at Eden Hall since 2008 and I love my job! I love working with new people and passing my knowledge and enthusiasm on. In my spare time I love spending time with my family, walking the dog and relaxing, but more importantly I love eating chocolate cake!
Hi, I’m Sean (centre) and I come to you from Gold Coast Australia! I studied my Bachelor’s degree in Dance and spent 4 years performing on cruise ships out of the US before coming to the UK. This is my first position in the fitness industry and I love it here at Eden Hall, the team I work with are fab! My favourite classes are naturally the dance classes, but I also like to sweat it out in a circuits class! In my spare time I like to paint and I can also juggle, fire twirl, solve a rubix cube and play the didgeridoo!
Hi, I’m Caroline (2nd from the left) I first qualified as an ETM instructor in 1999. Since then I have qualified as a gym instructor, personal trainer, Pilates instructor, as well as spin, functional core training, aqua and even under 5s physical education. I first worked for Eden on their very first day of opening and was with them for over 2 years. I moved to York for 9 years where I ran my own business as a freelance instructor and personal trainer. I moved back to the area nearly 2 years ago and also re-joined the fitness team which I love again! I continue to freelance in Newark teaching Pilates and spin. I am quite busy, but I love my job. Training and keeping fit is my hobby and a big part of my life. I am lucky to have my family and friends close around me, so going out, socialising and maybe the odd shopping trip is always good! (When I can tear myself away from the gym!)
Hi, I’m Lorraine (far left) I recently joined Eden Hall in January 2014 after relocating to a new county and I am thrilled to work in such a lovely place meeting new people every day. I last worked for Bassetlaw Council and Barnsley Premier Leisure as a specialist instructor working with people who have had strokes, heart or lung problems. I taught a variety of exercise classes and visited a residential home once a week to teach chair aerobics. I qualified in ETM in 1994 teaching aerobics in a local village hall and went on to qualify in advanced gym, Pilates, aqua, studio cycling, seated exercise, sports massage, GP referral and pulmonary rehabilitation. In my spare time I like to spend time with my family having 2 independent children, 3 step children and I am a proud grandmother to my grandson. I enjoy going away on the motorbike and I like a good film with a Chinese and bottle of wine!
As you can see, we all have very different backgrounds and strengths. Our energy and passion brings new and exciting classes for our guests.
Next time you visit eden hall, please take a wander down to the gym and say hi.
We look forward to seeing you.
